2023 - another successful fund raising year
American Friends of the Latvian National Museum had another successful fund-raising year in 2023.
Donations received (cash and gifts) totaled around $279,000. The Organization donated the majority of this to the Latvian National Museum of Art in Riga (LNMM) and a small amount to a historical research organization in Latvia. The largest gift and donation was a set of 18th century German Silver Sauceboats once owned by Catherine the Great. This generous donation was made possible by John J Medveckis and is now on permanent display at the Riga Bourse.
Donations made by the Organization in 2023 to LNMM were used to facilitate exhibitions during the year as well as presentations/lectures to guests of the museum.
In 2023 the Organization will be helping LNNM to publish and distribute a long awaited 300 page book about Arsenals, one of the most important historical buildings in Riga and the venue for many important exhibitions during its 200 hundred year life. The book’s publication is being made possible by a generous donation to American Friends from the Vija Celmins Foundation.
