Born in Latvia, John Medveckis immigrated to the United States in 1951, and became an American citizen in 1962. He was raised in Indianapolis and studied architecture and earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Cincinnati. While still in his twenties he co-founded the Economics Club of Indianapolis, the Penrod Society, and the Indiana Repertory Theatre.

John is the recipient of The Cross of Recognition from the Republic of Latvia and an Honorary Degree from the University of Latvia.

As a businessman, philanthropist, patron of the arts, collector, and amateur historian, Mr. Medveckis actively leverages his professional expertise in support of his passions and the community at large. A former partner in the Philadelphia investment advisory firm of Cooke & Bieler (1973-2021), he spent his career working with prominent high net worth families and family offices, both in the United States and in Europe. 

He currently serves as a Trustee for the Philadelphia Museum of Art and is a member of its Investment Committee, European Decorative Arts Committee, Prints, Drawings and Photography Committee, and Information and Technology Committee.

In addition, he serves as a Trustee for the Curtis Institute of Music, is a Fellow at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, and a member of the Director’s Council of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

His community service extends to active involvement with:
